Two individuals were killed and several others were injured in a terror attack in Tel Aviv, Israel
According to officials, two people were killed and numerous others were injured in a terror assault in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Thursday night.
According to Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, at least nine individuals were shot in the incident, with casualties being transferred to Ichilov, Sheba Tel Hashomer, and Wolfson hospitals. At Ichilov Hospital, two males "approximately 30 years old" were pronounced deceased.
According to the medical service, three persons in critical condition — a 20-year-old male, a 28-year-old woman, and a 38-year-old man — were being treated for significant injuries. Four other people were treated for minor injuries.
According to Magen David Adom, many other persons at the site were being treated for "stress symptoms."
There has yet to be a gunman captured. Police in Israel have stated that they are looking for a single suspect.
Officials reported "several" gunfire occurred on Tel Aviv's Dizengoff Street, Gordon Street, and neighbouring neighbourhoods. Dizengoff Thoroughfare is a prominent street that runs through Tel Aviv and features numerous stores, clubs, and restaurants. On a Thursday night, it would have been packed with activity.
"It has been a very difficult night," Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett tweeted. "I send my condolences to the families of those who were murdered, and I pray for the complete recovery of the wounded. Security forces are in pursuit of the terrorist who carried out the murderous rampage tonight in Tel Aviv. Wherever the terrorist is – we will get to him. And everyone who helped him indirectly or directly -- will pay a price."
The assault One of numerous recent terror strikes in Israel occurred on Thursday. At the end of March, three people were killed in terrorist assaults.
Five persons were slain on March 30 in Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv, by a guy on a motorcycle who was subsequently killed by police. According to Magen David Adom, one of the casualties was a police officer.
Two days earlier, on March 28, two police officers were killed and four others were injured in a shooting. Then, only a week before, four people were slain in a stabbing incident in Beersheba, a southern Israeli city. The suspect was shot and killed.
The majority of the assaults have been claimed by the Islamic State.
"Americans are, once again, grieving with the Israeli people in the wake of another deadly terrorist attack, which took the lives of two innocent victims and wounded many more in Tel Aviv," U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement. "Our hearts go out to the families and other loved ones of those killed, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We are closely following developments and will continue to be in regular contact with our Israeli partners, with whom we stand resolutely in the face of senseless terrorism and violence."
"Horrified to see another cowardly terror attack on innocent civilians, this time in Tel Aviv," tweeted US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides. "Praying for peace, and sending condolences to the victims and their families. This has to stop!"
