Muslims murder three individuals and set fire to a church and 25 dwellings in Nigeria
Fulani militants attacked Christians in central Nigeria's Miango District early Monday morning, April 4th.
According to the ICC's correspondent in Nigeria, three persons were killed and one was injured in the attack by Islamist extremists. In addition, 25 houses and 40 barns were destroyed.
The rural community church, known as the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), was destroyed by fire. Before security officers arrived, the extremists were able to cause significant damage to the neighbourhood.
"The Fulani killed my father and brother during the attack," an Ariri villager told ICC. "My neighbor was also killed, and my sister sustained a gunshot wound," he said.
For years, the International Christian Concern (ICC) has been monitoring the violence in Nigeria between violent Fulani herders with radical Muslim ideologies and predominantly Christian farming towns.
Monday's incident came on the heels of numerous other Fulani militant attacks between Monday, March 29, and Sunday, April 3. According to a local youth leader, the attack on Sunday occurred within 50 metres from a big military checkpoint, yet the soldiers did not act....
According to Mr. Robert Ashi, President of the Irigwe Development Organisation, a local tribal association, the March 30 attack destroyed 15 dwellings.
According to Ashi, all of the attacks were carried out by "Fulani Militia."
"The military commander in Plateau State, where these attacks took place, Maj. Gen. Sallau Ali, a Fulani Muslim, was previously accused of collaboration with terrorists. He did not intervene in any of the incidents," a local source stated.
