ISIS terrorist in Australia who abandoned Islam: ‘Islam inherently violent’, ‘Quran plagiarised’
Musa Cerantonio, a former Australian Islamist speaker who recruited a huge number of foreign terrorists to join jihadi terror groups in Syria, has revealed his experience of openly abandoning Islam. An article published in The Atlantic explained the circumstances surrounding Cerantonio's decision to renounce Islam and disclose it to the author of the piece.
Cerantonio converted to Islam at the age of 17 after being born into an Irish-Catholic household. Cerantonio visited the Philippines in 2013 and used YouTube to advocate for jihad and congratulate the Islamic States of Iraq and Syria, according to Philippine police (ISIS). As a result of his conduct, he was deported in July 2014.
Cerantonio and four others were apprehended by Australian police in May 2016 for allegedly plotting to sail to Indonesia and join ISIS in Syria. Cerantonio had been talking with ISIS terrorists on social media for quite some time prior to his detention. He often utilised social media to call for the assassination of US leaders and to praise Syrian radicals.
In June 2021, Cerantonio renounced ISIS and revealed his part in fueling jihad. In a letter written from Port Phillip Prison in Melbourne last year, he assured Graeme Charles Arthur Wood, an American staff writer for The Atlantic, that he had abandoned ISIS.
