According to the Kyrgyz Imam, women's bare thighs are to blame for the increase in meat costs

An Imam in Kyrgyzstan claims that ladies showing their thighs has increased meat costs in the nation.

Award-winning Imam Sadybakas Doolov blamed women for rising meat costs, claiming that women cheapen themselves by exposing naked skin.

"Do you know when meat prices go up in your town? They go up when women’s flesh cheapens." he said in Bishkek, the capital city.

He went on to say that women became cheap when they "exposed their thighs like a thumb."

The 53-year-old preacher has also served as head of an Islamic university. In his lecture, he urged men to forbid women from wearing short skirts.

His words sparked outrage across the country, with some accusing him of discriminating against women. Others demanded that he be charged with a crime.

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan (DUMK) evaluated the Imam's remarks and determined that he did not violate any Islamic principles and were not insulting.

Doolov has been protected by Muslim-majority  Krgystan's top Islamic authority.
