The Delhi government would provide a Rs. 5,500 subsidy to the first 10,000 E-Cycle purchasers
The Delhi government would grant a Rs. 5,500 discount to the first 10,000 buyers of e-bikes in the city, said Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot on Thursday.
The first 1,000 purchasers of passenger e-cycles will also receive a Rs. 2,000 incentive, he added. He also stated that the government will provide a subsidy for the purchase of heavy load freight e-cycles and e-carts for business use.
The first 5,000 customers would receive a Rs. 15,000 incentive on freight e-bikes. Previously, the subsidy was only available to individual buyers of e-carts, but now a corporation or corporate house purchasing these vehicles would also receive a Rs. 30,000 subsidy, he added. According to Gahlot, the subsidy plan would only be available to residents of Delhi.
According to the minister, there are already 45,900 e-vehicles on city roads, with two-wheelers accounting for 36% of the total. He stated that the ratio of e-automobiles in total registered vehicles in Delhi has surpassed the 12 percent level.
