Couples to smuggle gold; Customs Seizes 2 Kg Gold Mixture In Karipur

A couple from Kozhikode district, who arrived at the Karipur airport on a SpiceJet Airlines flight from Dubai on Tuesday night, hid the gold inside their bodies and undergarments.

The smuggling gang was trying to misuse the consideration that there would be less testing for those travelling with their families.

Sharafudheen (44) of Pulikipoyil and his wife Shameena (37) of Naduveettil were arrested for trying to smuggle gold.

Kozhikode Air Customs Intelligence officials seized 2148 grams of gold mixture worth about Rs 1.15 crore from the duo.
